The Party Wall Act 1996
The Party Wall etc Act 1996 applies to England and Wales. It confers rights and duties on a building owner carrying out certain works that affect adjoining property. The Act allows building operations to proceed expeditiously, after adjoining owners have been notified.
In the event there is a disagreement, the act provides a mechanism of dispute resolution through appointment of surveyors.
We undertake work under the Party Wall etc Act 1996 accepting appointments from the Building Owner or the Adjoining Owner.

- Considering details of works proposed to ensure that proposals are appropriate and will avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
- Checking and agreeing schedules of condition
- Negotiating the terms of Party Wall Awards.
- Ensuring the building owner fulfils his statutory obligations.
